Q: Hubby and I own a 1500 sq foot house in eastern NC built in 1970 with original tub/shower combo in hall and master bath. We do not plan to sell our home any time in the near future. Hall bath is larger, master bath is smaller. Between personal preference(mine) and consideration of future needs (including visitors), I want to upgrade the hall bath by taking out the tub and make it a walk-in shower. My husband disagrees citing concerns about turning off potential buyers in the future. We are looking for expert advice.

A: Hi, If it is an issue of space, walk in shower will do best, but updating both baths is more important that trading a tub for a shower. Invest the money in updating both bathrooms, as this will bring you the best return for your investment. Good luck, Mary Diaz
